Rated 3 out of 5 by from Impossible to start in cold weather I bought this because I wanted to avoid the gas/oil mixing. I only use the fuel with no ethanol. It is much heavier and more expensive than my previous 2 cycle trimmer, but it also seems much stronger and seems to last longer on a tank of fuel. I think I could rip up my tar driveway with the cultivator attachment!!!! Once the weather gets cold, it usually will not start and if it does and is shut off, I'm done. Time to pull out the backup battery operated trimmer. I have worn down the battery of the Troy-Bilt JumpStart Electric Engine Starter trying to get this bugger going in cold weather. If I could count on this starting reliably, especially in cold weather, it would be a great machine.... Now it will not start at all, even in warm weather. Since Lowes does not do repairs, I am looking for a Troybilt repair shop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value I have purchased 3 of these trimmers in 14 years so they average about 4.5 years each. I put oil and gas in them and thats it. I am not easy on them. I think they are a pretty good product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a great machine and I love it, However: I have purchased the top three best trimmers that you have,2nd and third best had problems with the trimmer line and ye lid popping out, So i decided to move up to the best that you have . I love the change that was made with the trimmer line in replacing line at ease. My problem with the TB6044 is starting with the pull line, the pull line takes too long to start, It is as the shaft is off track. I did purchase the rechargeable crank systems and starts with no problem. I have every accessory to this system but this unit should start by pulling the crank also. I am aware of the tree year warranty but this is time consuming for the money put into this stem. Two weeks to a month for repair is not good. I take pride in my yard and maintenance is a weekly task. once again I love the 4cc system and all the attachments but my unit is not 100% operative. If I was to get it repaired, what is my steps for repair in a timely fashion. I would love to recommended this product to a friend but I think there are a few things that need to be fixed on this machine. My friends are aware of my troy built trimmer and like it less the two problems mentioned .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Third time a charm----I hope This is my third, the first smoked like a freight train, and leaked oil. Two tanks oil for one tank fuel. Thanks to Lowe's they swap it out. The second must have skipped QC because the gas tank fell off, hard to start, the carburator was always off, the rope kept breaking and couldn't find anyone to do warranty work on the first or the second one. The second was used one summer just edging what my wife did with her little battery trimmer and it couldn't keep up with it. Because of the excellent customer service and manger Loewe's replace the second. The third so far has been good, no oil leaking all over the operator start when you pull the rope. The only reason I stuck with it was I had bought attachments to go along with it and didn't want to lose out using them. I bought my wife a little 5hp pony 35 years ago give or take and that baby is what made me a Troy bilt fan, it has been worked every year during garden season, still you pull the rope and it goes, but it was made in America the three trimmers were made in Mexico. I guess the trimmers really disappointed me and if Loewe's hadn't traded the junk ones out I would have bought another brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly built I purchased this model and the second season I had to replace the carburetor. Not happy. Extremely ethanol sensitive. Bought another brand with a Honda engine. Much better trimmer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT HAPPY! purchased at Lowes, haven't used the original string yet, and despite being careful to never overfill, crankcase oil seal is leaking, leaving a puddle wherever I set it. 3 year warrantee sounds good, but nearest warranty shop is 130 miles distant, requiring over 500 miles travel to take in for repairs, and then pick it up. Still haven't been able to converse with a human on their automated phone line.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from decent product, but doesnt hold up well i got one of these about 2 months ago. it was great at first, but then the trimmer head popped apart and threw a metal grommet out, then I went to start it yesterday and the metal dog had came off , and apparently cant be ordered.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute piece of junk I bought one of these about 6 weeks ago. I also bought the tiller attachment, pole saw attachment and the hedge trimmer attachment. I used it one time and the pull cord would no longer engage to start the trimmer. I returned the power head to Lowes and exchanged it for another one.The power head is difficult/ impossible to crank with the pull cord. The spring mechanism will not engage the flywheel. The second power head has run one time. I have just come in from 30 minutes of trying to crank the power head to no avail. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS THING.
