FLEX™ Power Base Overview

This state-of-the-art FLEX power base is a 208cc OHV, all-season 4-cycle engine. The rugged Latch 'n LockTM system has endured the Troy-Bilt test of quality, with hundreds of hours of accelerated use and is fully integrated with a self-propelled transmission for easy operation.

The three primary components of the FLEX Power Base are as follows:

1) an engine dog clutch

2) a safety switch, which will prevent the engine from running if the power unit is not connected to an attachment

3) an Operator Presence Control/Power Take Off

Other important FLEX Power Base components include:

  • Latch N' Lock System: Provides a rugged, secure connection to all attachments.
  • Integrated Kick stand:The kick stand operates the latch that holds the attachments in place. Swing the kickstand down to disengage your attachment. Swing the kickstand up when you're ready to reengage.
  • Engine Temperature Control: Adapt from warm-weather to cold-weather operation with the turn of a dial. The intake air selector valve determines whether the engine is drawing air from the outside for the summer, or drawing warm air from the muffler to prevent the air filter from icing over in the winter.
  • Roll-over valve. The roll-over valve is part of the evaporative emissions system. It allows the fuel tank to vent through a hose that is connected to the air filter housing. It will also close the vent if the unit is tipped over to help prevent fuel from leaking out.
  • Operator control lever. Some attachments require the operator to be at the rear of the machine while it is in operation, such as the snow thrower and lawn mower attachments. These attachments require two actions to engage them. The first action is to press the button behind the top lever. The second is to push the lever down.
