  • Three-Stage Design

The 12" accelerator spins 10 times faster than the augers, first breaking down heavy, wet snow like it was fresh powder. Then, with the help of the augers, it continuously shoots snow back into the third stage impeller for discharging.

  • Touch ’n Turn® Power Steering

The Touch ’n Turn® power steering system is controlled by two easy triggers. Simply squeeze the trigger on the side you want to turn toward, and the unit’s self-propelled drive system will turn the snow thrower for you.

  • Just One Hand® Operation

Just One Hand® operation lets you guide your Troy-Bilt® snow thrower with literally one hand. Because the machine is engineered to be well-balanced and easy to control, it does the work – not you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heated hand grips and 3 stage power I use the vortex to clear a 1000 foot right of way plus two driveways one is rotary including 6 parking spots. It works best in the deepest snow.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broken Bought this machine two year ago every time I use it have to check cotter pins it eats them. The control arm came apart one time, Agger cable broke this year and used it next day another spring fell of from I have no clue but very unhappy. Also easy to control it is not, your right hand holds down both Agger and drive to control the direction of your snow you use your left hand with gloves on difficult to say the least

Rated 2 out of 5 by from EATS SHEAR PINS LIKE CANDY The snow thrower I own is the no longer build bulldozer track version. I don't think the tracks provide traction as good as the wheels did on my old TORO. Worse than that is this machine eats shear pins like candy. At least 2 EVERY TIME IT SNOWS. It doesn't matter what type of snow or how fast you set the forward speed you better have extra shear pins if you want to finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features I have only used it once so far. Here are my first impressions. It started right up i used the pull cord. We had about 7" of wet snow, it threw it very far that i had to move the chute down. That's why i picked this unit. I believe i will like the power steering once i get used to it. The hand warmers where great. The light worked great since i had to blow in the dark. The handle to move the chute isn't as easy as the crank on my old blower. I had to take it to the shop because the chute wouldn't swivel all the way to the left. That issue was resolved. Troybilt helped me with the issue and stood behind there product! My only complaint at this point is it is hard to get in second reverse. This seems to be a problem , I have tried the same models in stores and they are all like that. The real test will be a large snowfall and blowing the snow out front of the driveway after the snow plow passes by and how well it holds up in the long run.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will not start after 1 year I purchased the Snow Blower in November 2017. At the end of the season, I followed the manufacturer's manual for long term storage which included adding a fuel preserver to the tank. I started the lawn mower during in July during the summer and it worked fine. However, when I went to start it at the end of October to prepare for the new winter season it would not start. I contacted the warranty company and set up service. I was told that the carburetor became clogged and would result in repair costs. I was also told that this was not covered by the warranty given the carburetor clogged as a result of bad gas in the tank even though I followed the manufacturer's storage instructions. Given this experience, I would not recommend this product in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best snowblower I've owned I've used the Vortex for three winters now and have been very happy with it. Unlike my previous snowblowers it never clogs up, even with very wet snow in icy conditions. It throws the snow 20 to 30 feet. Hand-warming handles are a nice touch, and the electric start is great. The only minor issue is that reverse is very slow, but I usually just leave it in forward and pull it back manually. I've already recommended it to a friend, and as far as I know he's happy with his also.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good stout machine I purchased 3 years ago as i moved into a place with a 75 foot driveway and needed to move more snow. This unit can really move the snow and throws if farther than my old MTD. As any blower it doesn't handle slushy snow very well. I deal with drifts higher than the intake and have to break them down for it to swallow up the snow. it is heavy and would be a struggle without the hand steering breaks. The breaks are a lifesaver. I do spend less time blowing which was the intention of purchasing this machine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerful machine! I live at a higher elevation in the Adirondack mountains in northern New York state, and we receive well over 200" of snow each season up here. I purchased the Vortex 2890 in February, 2017 and have used it well over 30 times since then. I've found that this snow blower has plenty of power to clear even the heaviest, deepest accumulations. In the season and a half that I've owned it I have not had any mechanical issues or problems and I haven't even used the electric start as the machine fires right up with one pull of the starter cord; even at 10 0r 20 below. The only reason that I didn't rate this snow blower 5 stars is due to two minor annoyances - First, it has two reverse speeds, but both of them are EXTREMELY slow, and the other issue that I have is with the control for the discharge chute. I find that it is clumsy and difficult to move while the machine is in motion. Overall though, I am extremely pleased with this snow blower and would definitely recommend it to anyone who has to move a lot of snow.
