Rated 4 out of 5 by from Compatible Efficent Received this trimmer as part of the Voice Program. Trimmer came in a strong box, but not an obstacle to be overcome. Right out of the box, I filled the tank with a store bought 40:1 fuel mixture and started per instructions. It is very important to follow 2-stroke starting instructions. The trimmer started on the first round of starting procedures and subsequent starting attempts - hot and warm. I have a similar model/size trimmer and a more advanced, higher power 50:1 2-stroke trimmer. This model started very easily and motor ran very well up to full throttle. Power was smooth, clean burning and steady at full power. No sputtering or lagging. The trimmer as a curved shaft trimmer was flawless. I do not like curved shaft trimmers and do not ever see the need for one. Perhaps because I am over six feet tall. An additional benefit is this trimmer will accept attachments from the Trimmer-Plus line as well as from a different brand I already have - I tried at least one other attachment. Connected easily. If you are thinking about the difference in 2 vs. 4-stroke, the advantage goes to 2-stroke in my book. Engines are lighter and no oil to carry on board and check before starting. While store bought 2-stoke fuel is expensive and I used it for this review; mixing your own 2-stroke fuel is easy and cheaper. Ethanol-free fuel is becoming more available and should be used in small engines. The relative low cost of this trimmer makes it a good tool for a smaller property. The availability of attachments is an advantage for flexibility, space, engine maintenance and repair/replacement. If the engine fails, you only need to replace it - not a whole tool. Finally, old, stale fuel is the surest way to cause poor/non running engines. Buy fuel in small quantities, stabilize at purchase, and use only fresh, properly stabilized, mixed 2-stroke fuel. Thanks for reading. I hope this helps your decision.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchase ever I'm a mechanic, I figured with good care, proper gas ratio, this budget trimmer would last, I was wrong... I will never buy another Troy built product, unless they want to step up to the plate and stand behind their product and replace it....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Buy You always get what you pay for. This trimmer lasted 3 times and then it wouldn't work anymore. It was hard to start from the get go and the 4th time it just continuously died on me. The tapping for releasing new strings didn't work either... that's just a marketing gag in my opinion. I followed all the rules and fuel mixture ratio etc per the manual. Do not waste your money on this yet very reasonably priced machine. It is not worth it!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worthless garbage I have purchased/replaced at least 7 of these, from Lowe's. You are lucky to get 6 hours out of the motor and 3 hours out of the trimmer head. Total garbage. If they had a negative star rating I would give them 5.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of junk Bought the TB22 about 3 months ago while it was simple and quick to put together it has been somewhat difficult to start when cold. The string also gets stuck from time to time and will not self feed. Most recently while I was using it the engine sputtered when I looked I noticed it was low on fuel so I refilled the tank. After refilling the tank I could not get it to start again. I cleaned the spark plug but it was still in good condition seeing as I have only used the trimmer 5 times and haven't even gone through a half gallon of fuel yet but it still wouldn't start. When I was putting the trimmer away I noticed the broken head of a torx screw on the ground next to the gas can. I am now trying to contact the manufacturer to find out where to return it. This is without a doubt the biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Most of the good reviews say received free product This trimmer is hard to start, bumper cap does not come off to change the line. Will try to exchange for another one at Lowe's as did Vegnazy April 30, 2016.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from QA at factory must be non- exhistant Bought TB22 with fuel at Lowes on July 7,2016. First use ran poorly had to baby the throttle; thought it just needed to be "broken in". Second time used had to constantly "pepper" the throttle to keep it running, wants to stall. It is now only two months old and have to take it to a TB repair facility. Can not wait to see how they will try and avoid the warranty so as not having to go thru the paperwork with TB. This will definitely impact my decision on a TB snow thrower.
