Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor quality control Just received, uncrated, and assembled. Checked the oil, added gas, and she fired right up, great so far. Started to make a pass and she would not turn left. Thought I might not have installed steering wheel correctly, check and all was correct. Tried to turn the wheel and it made a cracking noise, further inspection showed the gear at bottom of shaft was barley touching the big let gear. Shaft is loose for some reason. Needing to cut my grass I figured put if you apply pressure to wheel it works, somewhat. Keeps jumping up from time to time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! We really love our new lawn mower. Perfect cut, and so smooth. Rides great. I only rated four stars cause I don't like the brake on the left side, other than that, it is FIVE STARS! We love it and our snowblower too! Thanks Troybilt!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Troybilt fault. When I bought this from a store in Moline IL. I wanted it set up for mulching, but when they delivered it it was not set up correctly. I told the delivery man he should take it back but he just drove off. I had to go there and get the deck plate and remove the chute and install the deck plate. Then finally using it for the first time it shook like crazy and when I started cutting grass I heard a metal on metal sound. I assume they did not install the blades correctly. Ended up taking it back. I have a Troybilt snowthrower and walk behind mower that have worked great for years. This one star is not for Troybilt, it is for the place I bought it from.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pony riding mower won’t start I bought a Troy Bilt riding mower (pony) at Lowe’s in 2017 and worked great for 2 years and then one day it wouldn’t start. Changed the battery and checked the connections but couldn’t see any issues, still won’t start, not even a click when I turn the key. Hoping to find the answer on line.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Okay to not okay Lawnmower This lawn mower is less than 1 years old. The PTO spring broke, and now it has a delay going into gear. I called and got information on who did warranty work in my area. Called all three and locations to be told they wont work on my tractor. I then called Troy Bilt to stay on hold. I thought, well, I will do a live chat... That didn't work either... I have a brand new lawn mower that I can't use. I will have to come out of pocket to have it worked on

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth what I paid for it Been using outdoor power equipment for 30 years and this is the cheapest, flimsiest and most poorly engineered mower I’ve ever used. I’ve been around the lawn care industry all my life and knew that MTD products were not made well, and I get it that the lower price reflects less durability and lowered functionality, but the Troy-Bilt 42 inch Pony mower is no where near worth the price I paid. Mine worked for one season. And when I say “worked”, I mean barely kept my lawn in mowed shape. It rode rough, constantly needed a battery jump, key ignition worked intermittently, grass discharge chute would get knocked off, welds broke and metal pieces feel off and finally the speed selector completely failed so the mower could only be used at full speed unless the operator manually held back engaging the drive belt by holding pressure on the clutch pedal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does a good job. I bought my Pony over 4 years ago and it's been great. Besides cutting grass I have a bagger on it and use it to get up the leaves. The starter solenoid went bad the other day and this usually isn't much of an issue, however, they could do a better job with two things: First, the solenoid is located in a very hard to access spot. There needs to be a removeable access plate. Secondly, the wiring harness' are so short they barely reach. Any electrician knows you don't cut your wires so short they barely reach their destination. This, coupled with the location of the part makes an otherwise simple job nearly impossible. If they haven't already addressed these two things hopefully they will in the near future. Otherwise, I have no complaints about my Pony, it's been great!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Less than expected performance This is second mower. First returned due to excessive deck vibration. This unit only slightly better. My mower is not equipped with deck wheels like seen in literature photos.
