Rated 5 out of 5 by from Making wood splitting easier! I have been using the log splitter for 2 years with out a problem. Only one thing, the carburetor does not like ethanol added to fuel. I have had to clean it one time. Since, I have added an additive to help with the ethanol problem. The Honda engine is very strong and always starts up. Very easy to use and very reliable. Love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from EASY TO USE I HAVE HAD SPLITTER FOR 4 YEARS, GREAT PRODUCT. THE ONLY TIME IT HAS QUIT IS BECAUSE IT RAN OUT OF GAS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very well built, running strong after 5 years. I purchased this 27 ton splitter five years ago. I wanted the Honda motor and it has not disappointed. Always starts - even after sitting for 6 months. I always get firewood 'rounds' of Tamarack and Red Fir. Many of these rounds are 36" and larger. This splitter takes it all in stride. I have never had it fail to split because of the size of the round or pitch content of the wood. What a workhorse! We routinely put up 4-1/2 cords of firewood each year and we just completed putting up this years wood which also included two 60' White Birch (hardwood) trees that were killed by the Birch borer beetle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine I burn 12 to 15 cords a year and, and due to disability, need to split everything down to about a 4" wedge. It has tangled with oak, hickory, locust, beech, and elm. (Trick with elm is to split it from the outside edges into almost flat pieces) I learned that from my Pa years ago after he watched me try to center punch it with a wedge. He let me struggle and had a good laugh until he explained how to do it. I'm into my fourth year with this unit and no problems. I read review about muffler falling off...routine maintenance will prevent that. Only downside is that, to keep the price down, Lowes sells the unit without the fenders and hose guards and I wish I had them. I also wish that Troybilt might consider better protection around the lower hydraulic pump. It is kinda exposed and care when driving in the woods must be used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TB 27 log splitter This has been a great splitter. The engine has never failed to start on the first pull. The best thing is standing the splitter vertical. I am unable to pick up heavy pieces. It is very easy to roll a chunk of wood over to the splitter and let it fall in place. Some pieces are so big that I use a big pry bar. Sometimes I have to split the chunks like cutting a pie. Some sections are 30" in diameter. I have pulled the splitter on the road and behind a 4-wheeler. So far, I could say nothing bad about it. The only problem that I have ever had is where a branch/limb would fork out. I have to turn at different angles to catch a good grain pattern.
