Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rear Axle Height adjuster Similar to the other two reviews, I just unpacked my TB270XP and the rear axle height adjuster is bent, won't lock into place and is rubbing against the rear wheel. Very unsatisfied. Will try to return to Home Depot but I ordered in on 4/22, it was delivered on 4/29 and I just open the carton today. I totally don't recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TB270XP Excellent Mower! I did extensive research on self-propelled mowers before ordering this one Our mower arrived in a box with oil & assembly instructions. Put it together, checked blade for tightness, poured in oil & gas, pulled crank rope three times started and mowed six times since. NO problems here! ALL parts as they should be.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Troy-Bilt 270xp 160 cc Honda engine; new-non-start Just bought new from Costco; opened box yesterday. It had been pre-assembled in box. Only part had to attach the grass-cuttings bag. Filled w/new, appropriate oil & unleaded fuel. Read all directions 1st. It is touted as an "easy start" lawnmower. No matter what I do, cannot get it to start. Friend came & tried to start it. Couldn't get it to start. Nothing appears broken/bent/twisted/caught. Tried contacting Troy-Bilt Customer support (both phone/chat); no help there as are only available M-F during 8:00a.m..-5:00 p.m. EST. Most of us work during those times; thus, must do our yardwork on weekends/evenings. Watched some online videos. Still can't determine why this won't start. Is it me or the lawnmower? Unless/until I can get this tool started/tested. Cannot write a proper review at this time. Wont' register it w/Troy-Bilt unless can get it to start. May have to return it. Need help!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Arrived broken out of the box Purchased the troy-Bilt TB-270XP from Costco unfortunately I should have listened to the bad reviews other users had bent rear adjustment handles among other things but mine came with a broken rear axle so the handle on the left side of the mower was lower then the rite side a try-built tech thought the handle wasn’t pulled out far enough tried to explain it was and come on it pulls out so far you think a person wouldn’t no ,but after we hung up up I lifted the rear of the mower only to notice the back wheel drop and when I put it back down it went up another surprise was all the plastic it seems really rigid and looks like it will hold up for a good period of Time it I’ll never know the closest repair shop is 35 miles away so I’ll be retuning the mower and purchase another brand really disappointed my last mower is a Troy-built and still works I’ve owned it for 16 years it’s metal the wheel height adjustment which always worked and still do you would think with all the plastic material on the mower they would be a cheaper price also but that’s how company’s are doing business now so look around these may not be worth the trouble or take a chance you might get lucky?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Rear Axle Adjustment Lever Bent The TB270 XP lawnmower that I recently purchased online via a Waltmart market store, came in an undamaged box. The mower was new and unused. However, the rear height adjusting level was bent and rubbing strongly against the rear wheel. Others have posted here with photos of the same type of damage on the same model of mower. The mower model number is 12AVB2RQ766. The serial number is 1B100K324xx. The last two digits have been replaced by xx. It appears to be a workmanship problem at the factory. There are no scratches or evidence of mishandling or shipping damage on any surface of the mower. I called customer service and was told to register the mower and take the lawnmower to a Troy-Bilt authorized service center where they would order and replace the defective rear axle assembly under the Warranty with no cost to me The nearest service center is 30 miles away. Hopefully their will be no additional quality control problems when I am able to use the mower. Here are the pictures of the damaged Axle assembly. Notice that the spring steel height adjustment arm is not only bent, it is also rotated nearly 90 degrees from the correct position.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Left rear wheel flaps in the breeze. It won't align with the rest of the mower. Back to Costco it goes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissappointed Honda engine stopped running after two months. Service and warranty are no help. Don't risk it, quality is lacking.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Defective Rear Height Adjustment I have the exact same issue as the previous reviewer. The rear axle height adjustment arm is bent and rubbing on the rear wheel. The three lowest cutting levels can't be locked into at all. I'm extremely disappointed, I don't how this could have possibly passed the most basic QA inspection. The nose coming from the adjustment arm rubbing is annoying and the friction all but cancels out the self propelled feature.
