Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Powerful Mower The Flex system is really well designed and thought out, with solid, all-steel construction. The 28" mower makes quick work of my 1/2 acre lawn - about 20 minutes start to finish. It did take a little getting used to, being a powerful, heavy-duty piece of equipment. But after 2-3 mows, I had learned how to maneuver it easily - including around the 2' bases of trees - it just takes a little practice. And, it does require some upper body strength to control this beast. It is essential to level the mower by making sure that the deck height adjustment lever setting corresponds with the front wheel height adjustment settings. Some reviews suggest that there is a gap between the blades which leaves a narrow strip of un-mowed grass - this has not been my experience at all. It gives a neat, even cut in a wide swath, mulches the clippings really fine and discharges them back on the lawn for nutrients. A few users are bothered by the "wheelie" effect when engaging the drive lever - the front wheels certainly do pop up will if the lever is fully squeezed quickly. But engaging it slowly eliminates that issue - again, after some practice in feathering the drive control, one can vary the forward speed at will, from a crawl to a quick trot, which is an improvement over fixed-speed drives. I spray the deck undersides with a hose after each mow to remove any accumulated clippings. After a full summer of weekly mows, I can honestly say that l love using my Troy-Bilt Flex.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded my expectations. I don't plan on purchasing another mower if I don't have to. The Flex system is the greatest thing designed and developed. I use my mower during spring and summer and early fall and attach the snow blower for my winters. A solid and durable product. No complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lanw Mowing Services I have a landscaping company. I have seen many lawn mowers, but none like this one. It is a compact model of 28 inches wide and two powerful blades. This look like Homr Lawn mower home uses but so poweful to comercial use. of this machine, I did not find any other equipment that could compete with the power of the motor and the precicion of cutting of this line in particular. I definitely recommend it. If it is perfect for a landscaping company that requires a lot and constantly a good performance, why not use at home? Very Satisfied with my FLEX Troibilt

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A work horse I must say it had no problem going forward and eating the grass, but turning or pulling backwards can be a little tricky, especially with little room! I love the unit and had both my front and backyard done in under 30min, but working it around the tree or turning it around you have to work it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best mower ever! A dual deck mower! Wow! I mow my half acre in less than 40 minutes. Mulches and also bags. It comes with an attachment for your hose to clean it out. A bit tedious, since I don't want the blades to rust so I only do that at the end of the season. A pain to remove the covers to clean the inside. With it was better designed so that the grass clipping don't get inside the pulleys and latches. Other than that, A+!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mower Great mower attachment to my FLEX line. I want to make a suggestion for a new attachment a REEL MOWER attachment would also be a great add on to cut the grass. Hopefully Troybilt can add a REEL MOWER attachment in the future to there FLEX line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flex Mower experience insights The Wide Area Mower attachment is an excellent mower for the cost (this includes the additional cost of the power base). I have mowed my ¼ acre lot 3 times in dry and damp lawn conditions and found the mower is more than capable in either situation. I have not encountered any bog down issues in high or wet and high grass (St. Augustine) using this mower yet. It has cut my lawn mowing time by more than 30% over my old 21” mower due to several design advantages over the obvious 7” size increase. Overall I am very pleased with this mower but I wanted to give my impressions of the good and what needs improvement anyway. The Good: ---Easily capable of handling high grass whether it is dry or damp/wet ---Creates striping in grass that looks great ---Rear wheel differential along with caster front wheels making this a full zero turn mower ---This mower has some torque on the self-propelled rear wheels; I had it pop a wheelie when pulling the throttle trigger all the way when starting at a dead stop. Easily able to handle inclines without putting strain on the operator. ---Pneumatic rear tires provide excellent traction for the self-propelled base. ---Extremely easy to start (1 pull for me) ---Wash out port for blade area is a nice feature ---Excellent cut height options available ---Cost was basically the same as a 30” dedicated mower but the expandability and zero turn capability make it easily a better buy ---Easy to store ---Mulches very well ---Turns easily once you get used to throttle control and plow handle system ---No issues when cutting on an incline whether horizontal or vertical on the incline - - All of what I have to say below are things I have adjusted to easily and don't find bad just things that could be improved. - - The Needs Improvement: ---Front caster wheels need a lever or slotted easy adjust system. The wing nut is cumbersome and makes adjustments while operating impractical. ---Could use a 2nd wash out port on the opposite side, I still find myself rinsing the mower deck from the discharge side after use on damp grass. ---The throttle control doesn’t have much trigger pull distance between speeds. The cable either needs to be tighter or the pull longer to give more variation. This is something I have gotten used to so turning and operating are easier than the first time. ---Mulching cover needs to be a tighter seal; I find grass escapes and get pinned between it and the mowing outer deck all the time. ---The plow handle can be problematic on uneven terrain when mowing against a wall/fence because of its angle (I have had to move my hand to the inside of the handle to avoid wedging it between walls/fencing). I liked the original prototype handle I have seen so I would like to see them add it as an optional handle. ---The attachment engagement lever along with the throttle control on the same side really strains my hand. I will have to come up with some kind of “cruise control” to keep the attachment lever down and the pressure off my hand. ---A backup gear would be a nice to have thing but it is not overly cumbersome to back this mower up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Power Base & Wide Area Mower The power base starts very easily and seems to have plenty of power to operate the wide-area mower attachment. The speed control lever took a little getting use to. From a stopped position you have to feather it slowly or otherwise the unit will lurch forward very quickly. Also the power base is easy to detach and attach to the mower. The mower attachment fell short of my expectations. It does seem to cut the grass with ease but I can not cut the grass with the slightest amount of overnight dew on it without the discharge port clogging up several times. Not wet grass like after a rain and I do let most of the dew evaporate before cutting the lawn. I have not had this problem with other mowers. This has caused me to wait until later in the day to mow when the temps are higher. Maybe a different set of blades like a high lift blade would improve this? Finally the holes in the top of the deck located around both spindle housings (four holes around each housing). These holes allow a large amount of grass clippings to get on top of the deck around the belts and pulleys. Now it is becoming a routine during the cleanup to take off the safety cover surrounding the pulleys to get all the grass out. I do not like doing this at all plus it adds at least 20 minutes to my cleanup. I can live with the mower not being able to discharge the damp grass but will not live with having to remove the safety covers to get all the grass off the top of the deck. Sure hope Troy-Bilt comes up with some type of fix for this very soon. Some type of simple snap in plug/cover would stop the problem. I could not recommend the mower attachment unless this problem is fixed.
