Rated 1 out of 5 by from Over priced and under designed I bought this mower exactly 2 years ago today from Lowes. It now sells for $400 less. I used it today to try and make myself enjoy it but it didn't work out. This mower is not worth what was paid for it and more trouble that any mower I've ever used. The fact that it does wheelies all the time, especially when the bag reaches 1/2 full is ridiculous. Its poorly balanced to say the least. The bagging is clumbsy and more often than not clogging. Removing the bag when full is harder than it should be too. Most of the time the bag doesn't stay seated to the frame and grass blows out of the bag. The overall length is monsterous and could stand to be at least 12-18 inches shorter. The front end where the wheels are should be less obstructive and not plastic. All in all I wish I had never bought it and bought a Toro Timemaster instead. I mostly use my 22" Toro these days even thought it takes just a bit longer to get the job done. Time to take this thing back to the drawing board and see if you can make it better. Should be a sign since Lowes doesn'e sell your products anymore.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Engine A Real Turn Off/ Herky Jerky Ride Just setup for my first cut and I could not turn off mower. Yes, you heard that right - there's no way for me to cut power to the engine. Not a feature or a nice to have, this is a basic safety issue. Either the switch doesn't work or the grounding wire was dislodged or cut. And there are two ways to stop the engine - 1. hold the on/ off button down for 3 seconds or 2. release the blade control handle. I tried but neither one worked. Well, since I had time to kill as I waited for half a tank of gas to expire, I decided to take the mower for a whirl. The first thing I noticed is that the unit is very jerky - not very smooth. It's almost as if I had to cut with one hand on the drive control handle and one on the mower. The front of the mower is very light and jostles up and down with the contour of the lawn. Not a smooth ride. In addition, the mower seems to pull ahead in a choppy, jerky fashion. At first the engine seemed to sputter (not constant), but after tightening the spark plug it got a little smoother. The cut was nice but my grass wasn't long. Also, I didn't get a chance to try the bagger.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute garbage. Virtually every element is poor. The good -- when it runs, it runs well and has good suction. The bad -- everything else. Taking it out of the (pristine) box, the front end was tweaked, where the right front wheel was 1/2" higher than the left front at every deck position. It took 6 pulls to start the first time and got worse from there, to the point that the pull start would not work and it had to be started with a drill. Taking up to 2 minutes to catch. The bagging is abominable. It clogs if you look at it crossways and requires a cleanout of the entire bagging tube to resolve. If you try to avoid that problem, you can use the side discharge chute, which is only secured in the rear and it clipped in to the front. This means that if you go into a rut or brush into a mulch pile, the chute dislodges in the front and you have to stop and reseat it. Get used to doing that over and over. The worst experience I've had with lawn equipment in over 40 years of using lawn equipment. Plus, MTD/Troy-Bilt was unwilling to do anything about it until pressured. Avoid at any and all costs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Multiple issues. Poor customer service Ive had starting issues, stalling issues and issues with blade removal because of nuts being torqued too tight from the factory. Ive owned other mowers before. Never had all these issues. Be weary of false positive reviews. I woukd write more but Ive already lost numerous hours and money on this mower. Yes its under warranty but who has time to travel to get service non-stop. Update: finally got blades removed. The starting cable is now stuck. Checked the cable itself and it moves freely. The engine is seized somewhere. 2nd time this has happened. Ive only used the mower 4 times.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to start Mows best in dry grass works in wet conditions but bagger clogs frequently. Mulcher function is marginal seems to leave a strip of uncut grass in the middle after grass builds up inside the deck

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should Have Bought Sooner! Very well built, runs and cuts great. Very easy to set up out of the box. Self-propelled system works great, very easy to get use to. Have not “popped” any wheelies with it, I don’t know how that would be even possible. Been using 21 inch mowers for the last 30 years. If you can operate one of those in a proper manner you can operate this! In my current yard the Troy Bilt WC28 cut my yard cutting time by at least 1/3. Cuts tall thick fescue with no problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from my brand new TB WC28 ran for 30 seconds mowing, Just got this started 10 minutes ago after putting the gas in for first time. Started up on second pull. Ran the mower to back yard to start cutting. Engaged the blade, started going forward, was cutting grass two feet. Heard a clang, blade hitting metal, stopped engine. Looked down, and there was a seven inch gold spring on the ground. So I pushed this heavy beast back into the barn. Decided to write this about the quality of the company that built this.. I've had several mowers in my 66 years. Most lasted over ten years.. Yeah they did break down after awhile, but not 30 seconds after running. I'm taking it back to the store, getting my refund, spending a couple hundred more for a mower that I know is more dependable and better quality control. I also bought a gas trimmer from this company in mid July 2018. It lasted three weeks then seized up. Took it to the shop for warranty. They've had it for three weeks now. I'm just a glutton for punishment..

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Powerful engine/ easy to start I have had this mower since spring. I have been waiting to review so i good real relay how this mower worked. After months of use. I will say this mower cuts great. However if you are looking for a mower that bags well this is not the mower for you. If the grass is wet bagging is almost imposible.
