Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING MOWER!! I purchased this earlier this year and love it! It starts perfectly and very quickly-I was used to my electric start but realized it is just as easy. It uses different blades to bag the grass than to mulch it (which can get a bit much if you have a yard like mine and I like to bag the front and mulch the back). It cuts terrific and even. Only issue I have now is that the tube the grass goes in to get to the bag broke the deck stud it was supposed to attach to. Not sure what to do since the deck pin is soldered on. I will have to contact someone from Troy Built to help me out on this. I love all the options I have and it is well worth the money spent!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money & time Within 15 hours of use, the cylinder head had to be replaced because of a slipped valve guide. The speed of the mower is too slow, and non adjustable. The spur gears wear out extremely quick, and the tread of the tires do not last long at all. The on/off switch broke after about 5 uses. You also need ramps to load it into a truck, or you need a trailer due to the weight of it. Overall, I dont recommend this mower to anyone for any reason.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great engine, cuts below average. This is my second summer with this mower, so I've got some experience with it. First the good: The engine starts on the first pull and has more than enough power to run the blades. When the lawn is 100 % dry, it cuts very well. I like being able to let go of the handles and the mower continues to run. This is a great feature for when you have to remove items that are in your path, like sticks, rocks, etc.. The bad: If the lawn is even a little on the tall side, the mower leaves a strip of tall grass (akin to a mohawk) down the center of the path you just mowed, or the mower pushes down the grass, not completely cutting it, leaving high spots. This means you need to make another pass with the mower to re-cut these areas. This essentially negates the benefit of buying a mower with a wider cutting deck. When mowing last night, the cable that engages the blades broke. So, now I've got to have it repaired. If I had it to do all over again, knowing what I know now, I'd purchase a different mower.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Over priced and under designed I bought this mower exactly 2 years ago today from Lowes. It now sells for $400 less. I used it today to try and make myself enjoy it but it didn't work out. This mower is not worth what was paid for it and more trouble that any mower I've ever used. The fact that it does wheelies all the time, especially when the bag reaches 1/2 full is ridiculous. Its poorly balanced to say the least. The bagging is clumbsy and more often than not clogging. Removing the bag when full is harder than it should be too. Most of the time the bag doesn't stay seated to the frame and grass blows out of the bag. The overall length is monsterous and could stand to be at least 12-18 inches shorter. The front end where the wheels are should be less obstructive and not plastic. All in all I wish I had never bought it and bought a Toro Timemaster instead. I mostly use my 22" Toro these days even thought it takes just a bit longer to get the job done. Time to take this thing back to the drawing board and see if you can make it better. Should be a sign since Lowes doesn'e sell your products anymore.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Engine A Real Turn Off/ Herky Jerky Ride Just setup for my first cut and I could not turn off mower. Yes, you heard that right - there's no way for me to cut power to the engine. Not a feature or a nice to have, this is a basic safety issue. Either the switch doesn't work or the grounding wire was dislodged or cut. And there are two ways to stop the engine - 1. hold the on/ off button down for 3 seconds or 2. release the blade control handle. I tried but neither one worked. Well, since I had time to kill as I waited for half a tank of gas to expire, I decided to take the mower for a whirl. The first thing I noticed is that the unit is very jerky - not very smooth. It's almost as if I had to cut with one hand on the drive control handle and one on the mower. The front of the mower is very light and jostles up and down with the contour of the lawn. Not a smooth ride. In addition, the mower seems to pull ahead in a choppy, jerky fashion. At first the engine seemed to sputter (not constant), but after tightening the spark plug it got a little smoother. The cut was nice but my grass wasn't long. Also, I didn't get a chance to try the bagger.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute garbage. Virtually every element is poor. The good -- when it runs, it runs well and has good suction. The bad -- everything else. Taking it out of the (pristine) box, the front end was tweaked, where the right front wheel was 1/2" higher than the left front at every deck position. It took 6 pulls to start the first time and got worse from there, to the point that the pull start would not work and it had to be started with a drill. Taking up to 2 minutes to catch. The bagging is abominable. It clogs if you look at it crossways and requires a cleanout of the entire bagging tube to resolve. If you try to avoid that problem, you can use the side discharge chute, which is only secured in the rear and it clipped in to the front. This means that if you go into a rut or brush into a mulch pile, the chute dislodges in the front and you have to stop and reseat it. Get used to doing that over and over. The worst experience I've had with lawn equipment in over 40 years of using lawn equipment. Plus, MTD/Troy-Bilt was unwilling to do anything about it until pressured. Avoid at any and all costs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Multiple issues. Poor customer service Ive had starting issues, stalling issues and issues with blade removal because of nuts being torqued too tight from the factory. Ive owned other mowers before. Never had all these issues. Be weary of false positive reviews. I woukd write more but Ive already lost numerous hours and money on this mower. Yes its under warranty but who has time to travel to get service non-stop. Update: finally got blades removed. The starting cable is now stuck. Checked the cable itself and it moves freely. The engine is seized somewhere. 2nd time this has happened. Ive only used the mower 4 times.
