Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I bought this edger through Amazon. I used it one time before realizing that oil was dripping from the edger. It is dripping out of the bottom of the edger. Now I find that I have to take it to another town 50 miles away for service on a brand new item.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reliable, easy to use. I have owned this unit for several years. It does a fine job, no issues getting it started and it runs reliably. Unless clay gets packed up in the blade guard. Then it will stall out. And the blade guard is very difficult to get cleared out. Easier blade guard removal or access to the blade would have helped this issue. The metal belt guard had a design issue and one of the bolts only clamps it on the edge, not through a hole. One of the flanges on the belt guard has broken twice. But otherwise the unit runs well, and I use the various features; I use the bevel adjustment at an angle along the sidewalk and driveway, and straight up along the landscaping. I use most of the range of depth although clay will get packed in more quickly the deeper I run it. I also use the curb height adjustment along the street.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Starts on thr first pull ! I have used this edger fo four years now and it always starts on the first pull ! The priming button makes this edger start every time and the Briggs Stratten Engine runs strong and will probably outlast me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Curb wheel works good; cranks easy; runs good; I brought the TB554 edger two years ago and have had to replace the belt, the belt guard, the blade guard and the blade adjustment rod. Ok, the belt is a wear issue because of the way it is twisted. The other items failed because of stress due to poor design. I expect to have to replace all these items about every two years. I will probably not need to buy another edger but if I do it will be like the one that I used for over twenty years even if it cost more.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worked well ...twice. Third edging was a complete disappointment. Wasted 3+ hours over two evenings to try and get it started. I tried, a neighbor tried, the big box store where it was purchased was courteous enough to try. There, they tried straight ether and got it to start ...until the ether burnt off. They informed me it was a carburetor issue. I called customer support (I was only 3 months into the 2-year warranty). I was told I first had to try a fuel stabilizer (Sea Foam) after draining the gas tank. Did what I was told, let it sit, added fresh gas (no ethanol) and ...nothing! It is now a Friday evening, Troybilt customer service is closed and I have to wait until mid morning to contact them. I'm guessing Ill need to take it to an authorized service center and wait who knows how long until it gets fixed. In the meantime, the jungle growing up around my sidewalks and driveway is starting to scare the neighbors.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from JUMPSTART CAPABILITY I HAVE A ROTATOR CUP PROBLEM AND CAN NOT PULL THE STARTER. THE TB554 NEEDS THE JUMPSTART SYSTEM. WHEN WILL IT BE AVAILABLE? THANKS. JAMES HEDRICK

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Carb failure galore Over the last 5 years I have had 3 carburetors on this trimmer( replaced by authorized Briggs shop) The first year I bought it and used it one time, when I went to use the following spring, it wouldn’t start. This was the first carb, although it was still under warranty, Briggs would pay because “warranty doesn’t cover fuel issues “ . I am know on my 3rd carb. Aparantly you need to start thes things monthly or the carbs mysteriously go bad. I have weed eaters, snow blowers, tillers, chippers, mowers and leaf blowers, all seasonal equipment and have never had to replace a carb an any of them and never had to start them until I needed them. This is a very frustrating piece of equipment
