Rated 1 out of 5 by from Assembled in Mexico I bought this trimmer 10 months ago and it has very few hours on it. I ran 2 tanks of fuel through it this week doing a pretty good job on my 3' high weeds even though the guard would catch occasionally if I took too deep of a cut. After filling the gas tank for the 3rd time it would not start. I checked the plug and it wasn't flooded. I primed it more to no avail. I then opened the air filter door for the first time only to find dirt getting past the air filter and into the carburetor damaging the engine. It appears that the air filter element was not oiled correctly during assembly allowing dirt to enter the engine. My nearest service center is over 20 miles. Unhappy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the best choice Bought this trimmer last summer. My fuel line was spitting out fluid and I thought maybe it was a rare defect but upon reading other reviews it seems to be a common manufacturing issue. Had to buy the the drill bit attachment to start the thing after hand pulling became impossible (not too big an issue since it was fairly inexpensive). But if they knew it was going to cause people headaches then why not simply include it. Lastly, trimmer line replacement is an extreme headache.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not very dependable I have owned 2 of these and neither have lasted more than 6 months. The mechanics for Lowe’s say the carburetor has gone bad on both and it would be cheaper to purchase a new one. The only reason I bought a second one is because I have the attachments. Bought it in August 2018 and it quit today. I would not recommend this trimmer to anyone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good while it lasted; No durability or warranty I bought the TB35 EC in August 2018 as part of a bundle sale at Lowe's with one free attachment, and purchased the brush cutter attachment and some TruFuel 40:1 premix. Out of the box, the unit seemed solid and started without issue. The trimmer was used for edging around sidewalks (my yard is less than a quarter acre) and for cutting a 20x40 grass plot on another piece of land. The brush cutter was for times the grass on the plot got too overgrown for the string trimmer to handle. At first, all was great. The power was adequate for edging, which can be tricky the first time you establish an edge, and the attachments swapped out easily. However, in May 2019, the string trimmer head started to fall off, and I realized the plastic hex-shaped slot where the head connected to the drive shaft had stripped out, so I switched to the AeroFlex head. After less than 2 months, that too started show signs of stripping in the same spot. Takeaway: The Troy-Bilt heads are cheap junk. An aftermarket replacement from another brand proved much more durable for the short remaining life of the powerhead. Also around May 2019, the edger attachment also started to show signs of wear. The button that locks the attachment in place started to get "wiggly", causing the attachment to move slightly during use. No amount of tightening could correct the issue. It was a small irritant, but also an indicator of poor durability. Finally, and worst of all, in August 2019 -- just one year after purchasing the unit -- it refused to start. After repeated attempts, the pull cord seized up. Thinking I would be covered by the 2 year warranty, I took the unit to an authorized Troy-Bilt service center, who held the unit for over a week and called to inform me "The cylinder is scored and the unit isn't worth repairing. That will be a (price moderated) diagnostic fee." I inquired as to how that could happen on a unit that received such light use, and why Troy-Bilt wouldn't honor the warranty. The servicer alleged "only two things could cause the damage" they observed: Improper lubrication or sand in the cylinder. I informed them I used TruFuel 40:1 premix exclusively in the unit, so lubrication isn't the issue, and as for the "sand in the cylinder," shouldn't a properly maintained air filter prevent that? I was told there was nothing they could do, Troy-Bilt won't warranty a scored cylinder. So I called Troy-Bilt, relayed this story, and was told -- surprise -- there's nothing THEY can do, because they have to rely on the servicer's determination. Pretty genius way to avoid paying warranty claims. TL;DR: This is the second MTD-manufactured product I've owned that crapped out early in life. I won't be burned again, and I highly recommend you avoid these disposable products at all costs. Check your brands, because MTD manufactures for most of the ones you find in big-box stores. There is no warranty support, and you'll find yourself paying out of pocket for the privilege of being told to pound sand--but hey, "we value your business!"

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WARNING - DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE BECAUSE TROY BILT DOES NOT SUPPORT IT. IF YOU LOSE THE MANUAL A REPLACEMENT MANUAL IS NOT AVAILABLE. ACCORDING TO TB THE TB35 EC DOES NOT EXIST. YOU WILL NEED THE MANUAL BECAUSE THE TRIMMER LINE IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO REPLACE

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good product Ive had this thing for barely two years and now it barely runs. It worked well for maybe a tear but Its always taken way to many pulls to get started and now it takes 10 to 15 minutes of running through the start up to get it to actually start. Once it does it doesnt run properly what so ever, the obly i get any power is if i leave the choke on the entire time. It constantly bogs down and never get up to adequate cutting power. Im going to check the warrenty and hopefully can get my money back or at least a replacement. I dont recommend this machine

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sorry Product I purchased a Troybilt TB35EC weedeater at the end of summer 2018. I used it maybe three times last year. This summer I've only used it about 4 times and it has quit running. It bogged down while using it in low grass, died and will not restart. Very poor product! Will never purchase Troybilt product again!!!
