Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute Garbage!! I bought this string trimmer because my wife wanted to save a little bit of money (I wanted an Echo or something more reputable) and go with a cheaper brand. It seemed okay for the first few uses but then it started revving really high on its own, even after releasing the throttle. The next season it was very hard to start. I finally got it to start after messing with the spark plug boot, oil, and air filter, but then it would randomly shut off while in use. The next issue was the bump head coil - the instructions for replacing the line state to turn the bump head counterclockwise without pushing down on it to wind the line around the coil, but I couldn’t turn it counterclockwise without pushing the head down. After taking it apart and messing with it multiple times I got it to work. I used this garbage for three seasons and struggled with its issues the whole time. This year I replaced the spark plug and air filter, flushed the oil out and refilled it, and cleaned the whole engine compartment. I nearly threw my shoulder out trying to start this worthless machine. Another thing - the gas cap is way too close the the plastic engine cover! Every time I took it off or put it on I lost skin from the top of my thumb knuckle. I messed with this for three days; adjusting the choke, cleaning the air filter, holding the engine at different angles to try to aid its combustion... no dice. I hate this machine with a passion and wanted so bad to take a baseball bat to it. I finally had enough and rather than spending even more time cleaning this garbage up in pieces. I just threw it on the concrete a couple times, took it apart, and trashed it. I have a Troy-Bilt lawn mower that I bought at the same time and it still starts with a single pull, but I will never buy another string trimmer from this company. I bought an electric trimmer (different brand) today - fingers crossed. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF TRASH!!

The head came loose and the trigger bolt fell out when I had it for only 4 months so I replaced them and it still did not fix it the spark plug is loose all the time I tightened it even replaced it still dont work only a year old and I threw it away pretty new weed eater thrown away because the quality is poor!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WASTE OF MONEY I have gotten only two uses out of this trimmer (purchased in May 2018). It was drained for the winter, and has never run properly since. I have had it in for service 3 times. I'm told each time it's stale gas (apparently the standard excuse). It's had fresh ethanol-free gas every time. I will never purchase another Troy-bilt product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Possibly the WORST piece of TOTAL JUNK I ever had! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS JUNK!!! Literally nothing good about this trimmer! Garbage right off the shelf. Gas cap leaks (even bought a new replacement) unless tank is almost empty. Engine randomly runs well, poorly or won’t start. I even bought the expensive gas in a bottle to avoid the rumored ethanol problems. Trimmer head is a total pain to open, bump advance system does not work properly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Zero stars if it was possible! I bought this trimmer 2 years ago, died the second time I used it. Lowe's let me exchange it, it has been nothing but trouble since. I had to rebuild the carb after one season, the diaphragm was leaking like a sieve. Now the primer bulb is busted. It's been impossible trying to find a replacement because it is a three outlet air purge bulb. Why do you all not use the same equipment on your models??? Biggest waste of money I've ever spent.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Seems to start and run well ... but... I bought it last year at the end of the season and just used it once never even used up the string that came with it... it seemed to have worked fine... pull it out this year and add new trim string, now the night mare begins... it will never come out of the opposite eyelet, I have to dismantle it after watching a youtube video of someone with the similar problem... Once you get it stringed you can count on it getting stuck inside again after about a quarter of the 20" of string that it recommends... back to prying it open with a screwdriver (making it looser and tearing it up) to have to rewind it again... there has to be a recall but I guess it's not really a safety issue it just a bad investment into a garbage product issue... I will never buy this product again...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Year old and doesn't work. Really disappointed in Troy-Bilt. Use to be a quality brand. This trimmer lasted a year and stop running. I didn't register the product and couldn't return it so I did some research and found out that it could have been issues with the carburetor and/or fuel lines so I replaced them. Ran for about 30 minutes and stopped working again. Won't start. I tried to post a review on this earlier and the admins didn't approve of it. Just trying to save others some grief and hopefully encourage Troy-Bilt to improve their product quality. DO NOT BUY.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Multiple problems with only 6-10 uses I bought this trimmer liking the fact that it was able to use multiple attachments and it was straight fuel. During the first season the c-clip that held the catch for the start pull bent. I had to take it apart to figure this out and replaced it. On the next usage the second one bent and I had to replace that as well (good thing it was a two pack of clips). This season the head on the trimmer wallowed out and is now loose, taller grass will now completely slow the head spin to a crawl. Essentially making the tool useless. I will obviously have to either buy a new trimmer extension (highly unlikely) or buy a new trimmer. I didn't even get my moneys worth out of it before it was useless.
