Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Mower. I have a 2011 Troybilt Pony riding mower 17.5 hp engine. I love everything about this mower, except the steering. There is a lot of play in the steering, which is like that when you buy it new. I wish troybilt can make a better steering for this mower. Other than that, no complaints. Maintenance is the key to a long lasting mower. Take care of the mower, and it will take care of you. Nice job Troybilt. Also, one more thing, is the drain for the oil, poorly done. Very hard to drain, so I made my own drain. See photos below.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good useful Features I bought my Troy Pony 42 lawn tractor a month ago. I'm very pleased, because it does the job. And love the reverse cutting feature. Those of you who want a mulching kit there is one available. I put the blades on myself. All you need is a breaker bar, 24 mm socket and a torque wrench to install your blades and also a person to sit on your tractor so U can loosing the blade nut.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from mulching blades Does't come with mulching blades so I had to purchase some at an expensive price. Took 2 and a half hours to change them out. Not happy

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Eating belts! I bought it a month ago the third time I went to mow it destroyed a belt. So I got another belt well the second time I go to mow it destroyed the cutter belt. Now I have to take it in to try to figure out why that is occurring. The grass is high really needs cutting and I am without a mower. Yes angry

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hoping for a response from Troybuilt I am 60 yr , purchased the 17.5 hp. Pony. 4/22/2019. I am mechanical but not so much a prefectionist that nothing would make me happy. DISAPPOINTED !!!! this is what, I am. VERY dissatisfied with "prep" from dealer. but they didn't make it. I have adjusted it as far as I can and still cuts as if I am leaving " Skippers".. The frame itself leans almost an inch lower to the right side , so I am sitting awkward having to always lean to the left to compensate. just to sit straight. You may think that isn't anything?? try it for a couple hours at a time. I purchased the mulch kit. *** IT DOES NOT FIT PROPER **** There is almost 1/4 inch gap at the bottom and shoots grass out and up. There are other GAPS... I get covered in cuttings and blows grass in the driveway , walking area. it's almost as if I didn't have one and was blowing the cuttings everywhere. The Blades were so dull I needed to file them. My dullest blade EVER was never so ROUNDED and worthless. EVERYTIME , I put it in forward and SLOWLY release the break.. IT POPS LOUDLY SOUNDING LIKE SOMETHING IS GOING TO BREAK AFTER A SHORT WHILE.. This does not seam normal to me !!...????? Working on this , is like working on a new car !!! if you do this yourself.. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR TOOLS AND YOUR HAND(s)............. Dealer prep.. Nightmare... I live 16 mi. and had it delivered.. the engine was over filled with oil by at least 4 to 6 oz's ?? there was such a clatter when it was in drive I requested a different one. They were reluctant but did so. The next rider SHOWED NO OIL ON THE DIP-STICK ?? wow !! . The cutting deck came pre-scratched ... I'm 6'2" and I enjoy the fit..Lots of room. I do not feel or believe Troybuilt lived up to their reputation that I have always thought was true... Quality..for now..I don't see it.. I am hoping for some kind of resolution from troybuilt. I will write if they do

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the Price This is my first ever riding lawn mower that I bought last month, apart from being a bit "jerky" it does a great job on my lawn. I had to get used to not having a gas pedal though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Dissapointed I bought this product for my 80 year old father. This would be the third summer that he could of used this mower, unfortunately after taking impeccable care of his prize mower it is sitting in his garage useless!! Had a bent rocker arm which was replaced and after mowing 2 strips it bent again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Steering Shaft failure...AGAIN! I bought this Pony in June of 2017, after maintaining an older one (10 years or more) for a long time. The older one was in bad shape when first started using it , but I'm mechanically inclined, so I just kept fixing it. I finally decided I earned a new one!! I was very happy for the first 1 1/2 years, but then the steering started slipping, due to the worm gear wearing out, which is the same problem I dealt with on the old one. GRRR! I just looked at the warranty and realized it is still (hopefully) covered, so after the Easter Holiday I'm going to have it repaired. I'll follow up and let y'all know what's the outcome. TROYBILT should design a stronger steering system for the Pony.
