Rated 4 out of 5 by from Storm 2410 Review This is my first snow thrower. I decided that I am getting too old to be shoveling a lot of snow and based on predictions I was convinced we were going to get a lot of snow this year. I purchased the Troy Bilt Storm 2410 this past Summer after doing considerable research on different brands and models. Well, we just experienced the Blizzard of 2016 and the Storm 2410 performed better than expected. I was impressed with the ease of starting (I have only used the manual recoil start so far and it started 1st pull each time). I used the snow thrower 5 times over the course of the weekend. I went out several times to clear my driveway and my neighbors to keep the snow from accumulating too much. I was pleased with the ability to control the direction and distance of the discharge. The hand crank adjustment for the discharge chute was definitely useful. Sunday morning I went out to do the final clearing of my driveway and my neighbors. I then cleared 5 other driveways that had not been touched since the beginning of the blizzard. This took me several hours total. I was able to clear out the build up at the end of the driveways that was left behind by the snow plows. I was also able to clear drifts that were taller than the 22" impeller housing. All the driveways cleared are asphalt. Some are level and some have a slope on the street end and each is about 5 or 6 car lengths in overall length. I actually enjoyed myself. This is not the most powerful machine out there so you have to manage your expectations and I knew this when I purchased this snow thrower. I had no problem clearing all the snow we got (some powder and some slush) with no problem. I adjusted the speed based on the load on the engine. I also sprayed the impellers and housing with a non-stick spray designed for snow throwers and I had no problems with clogging. I used maybe 1.5 gallons of fuel so I consider the fuel consumption pretty good for the length of time run and amount of snow removed. I am very happy with my purchase overall and as far as I'm concerned this snow thrower has already paid for itself. The only reason I didn't give it a five star rating overall is: 1) The design of the hand crank assembly on the chute end could be designed stronger. Too much play in my opinion. 2) I also think having a cover for the electric start plug (where the extension cord plugs in to provide cranking power for the starter) to keep snow out would be a good idea. 3) Reverse speeds are extremely slow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a machine! I bought this snow blower two years ago. We receive an average of 8 inches per year. I bought it to not only use on my driveway, but to serve my neighbors. I also bought this for my wife in case something happened to me. I am the only one in the neighborhood to own a snow blower and this machine is great. I can clean 7 driveways in about two hours. This machine can move snow and is so easy to use. I have had no trouble starting it. Three suggestions: start the machine in the summer time and let it run for a while, spray a lubricant in the shaft before blowing snow, use 100% gas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jonas 2016 Jonas dumped about 2 feet of snow on my town and the drifts were up to 3 feet. This snowblower was a lifesaver. It was easy to use and handled the snow without any issue. Initially, I wasn't certain if I needed to buy a more expensive model, but I can safely say that the 2410 model is more than adequate. The start button is on the side for the electric start, but I used the pull cord, which is located at the rear of the blower. It isn't a hard pull cord - I didn't throw my whole arm and shoulder out of joint. And the 4 forward speeds are great because I was able to snowblow on the inclines without getting stuck in the snow. I am pleased with the machine and recommend it for anyone who wants a reliable, user-friendly snowblower without spending a fortune.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Camper Bought this online at Lowe's when we got hit with major Sierra (CA) storm. 4 days of snow and rain -- over 2' of wet glop, snow and ice. Truck stuck at bottom of driveway (300' from house). Got out to main road and down to Lowe's and picked up their last 2410 (just fit into Toyota Tacoma with cab high camper shell). Assembly was quick: it's mostly together in box. Checked oil (already in), put in gas, started on 2nd pull. First the good news: the auger was more than equal to cutting through this crud -- up to and over the top of the cowling. The bad news is cutting uphill in wet icy conditions is really difficult. Tires would spin until they could dig down to pavement, then progress. I learned to wiggle side to side a few inches and up & down to keep momentum. Downhill was easier, also I could keep one tire on pavement -- same when I'd do another cut uphill. So tactic was to go up about 20' at a time, turn and come down. Anyway, a couple of hours to go 300' up a pretty steep asphalt driveway, clearing enough for truck to get there. Once on the flat it was great. Steady cutting & mostly easy. Uses a really crank to turn chute and throws snow well out of the way. In the meantime, I'd gone back out and bought chains. NOTE: buy chains that criss-cross over tire not parallel links. The latter just get forced down between tread and don't do much good. At one point, I had trouble starting it though not sure why. Likely flooded. It started after letting it sit for an hour (too far from power source for electric start). Probably put 8 hours on the engine in truly horrendous snow -- uphill driveway and large parking area. With one exception it always started easily. Gear speeds all worked great though was in the lowest almost all the time. High reverse was appreciated after an hour+ session just 'cause pulling it back would eventually get tiring. The engine is relatively quiet but I still use hearing protection whenever using any kind of small engine. So, great price, easy to use and highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent machine indeed... I had a chance try out my new 2-stage snow thrower last week and I was very impressed with my experience. This machine is built well and turned a 2 hour job into about 20-30 minutes. You can tell this machine is well built throughout. The motor started very easily with a push of the ignition button. Once started, the engine idled very reliably too. The motor stayed running until my job was through and I stopped the engine. Very pleased with the engine and drive system. Very solid. One note- the manual advises the use of a gas stabilizer such as "Sta-Bil Storage" or something similar. I highly recommend using one. Even with the stabilizer, I'll still drain the gas at the end of the season and run it dry before storing. Do this, and you'll never have a problem with your engine. This is one powerful snow thrower and I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still going strong after 5 years Bought this in late 2010 after our first major storm in MD left 3 feet plus over two weeks...didn't use it for two years after purchase. Did routine maintenance on the third year put it to work and each year since. Just finished the big dig out from JONAS 2016 clearing 35 inches. The machine worked hard for 5 plus hours and three tanks of gas. Never clogged, never choked and cleared a block's worth of side walks, neighbors driveways, and the dreaded snowplow barrier once the snow is pushed. Never an issue with this machine. Always use the electric start, and spray the auger, chute and other parts with WD40 before and after use. I do an annual oil change in the spring after seasons end. I have also changed guide shoes annually but recently went to a set with wheels on them so shouldn't have to replace due to wear any more. The 6 speeds forward and 2 reverse work extremely well. I highly recommend this machine for any home owner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A power house machine This is the best machine without a doubt. Don't waste your time on another brand or a single stage. Much as I despise winter, this unit makes snow removal a breeze. Powers through the wet, heavy stuff and will tackle the hard, compacted waste left from the city's snow crew at the end of the driveway. Would highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I WILL NEVER SELL IT! I was finally able to talk my Wife into letting me get one of these a few years ago during a heavy snow year. I live in a area that has some heavy snow years then some light snow years. The next two winters were very light and I did not need to use it. She wanted to sell it. I flat out told her NO WAY! The last tow years has proved that this Troy Bilt Snow Thrower is wroth it's weight in gold. It starts right up even on the coldest day (The electric start is GREAT). And all I've ever had to do to is change the oil and plug.
