Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Investment I purchased this from Lowes in November in preparation for the upcoming winter. My wife and I used to shovel our driveway and that of our neighbor's. As we are in our 70s now, we decided shoveling was no longer an option. Upon returning from a Christmas vacation, I was greeted with 8" of new snow. I was chomping at the bit to try out my new snow blower. What a back saver this unit is! Works as advertised. Great features. User friendly. I ended up doing five driveways in about 90 minutes. I really liked the hand warmers and the fact that the drive is linked to the auger which enables you to adjust the chute while turning and continuing to clear snow. Would purchase this again in a heartbeat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Expecting more ? Consumer Reports is right, the smaller machine is much better to handle for less money. This 2860 will give you a workout. CR gave it above average in handling, I beg to differ the airless tires has minimal traction, they slip going up an incline and wont dig in to plowed snow. Now I have to see if I can get chains. The electric grips are not a plus. The shifting is also hard On the plus side the machine is well made and runs excellent. I am 90 years old and I bought this so my wife can operate it , fortunately I wont be around when she starts complaining. My old machine I bought in 1970, still runs but now I don't dare use it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy! Carb troubles I purchased this 12/5/17 from Lowes. In 2018 I had to replace the carb (which was on a 60 day backorder) and then in 2019, after storing with gas stabilizer made by Truefuel and ethanol free gas I had to rebuild the carb because it wouldnt run without pushing the primer bulb non stop. A coworker has the same one from 2016 and also has to repair the carb every year, this year he had to replace o rings on the choke in addition to fixing the carb. The body is made in USA but the engine is made in China and has a bad carb design. This was my first and last Troy Bilt. They used to be excellent but now are not......... If you go to a dealer you can still Find USA made engines but they are a rare find now adays. Dont go to a big box store go to a dealer and find something with a USA made engine or you will be sorry. I paid a lot for a yearly headache!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good Luck with the 2 warranty if it breaks. Good luck finding a Troy-Bilt Authorized Service Center if it breaks down. I was turned away by all of my local authorized service centers because I did not buy it from them. The 2 year Warranty is totally useless when everyone refuses to look at it because you bought it at Lowes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Starts but don't run I bought my 2860 three days ago, when I finally got tired of repairing/servicing the 26" T-B I've had since 2011 (used it about 40 hours over that time, had it in the shop 3 times, changed oil at least once a season because of gas in the oil sump - caused by, I am told, a faulty gas cut-off solenoid which my repair shop couldn't seem to fix or replace for whatever reason). Long story short, my new machine fired right up - but would not move. Transmission would not engage in any gear, forward or reverse. It sat overnight until I could call Lowes, which is where I bought it. When I pulled it out of the shed the next day for pickup by Lowes' delivery, there was a puddle of gas on my shed floor (suggesting that the cutoff solenoid in this machine was also malfunctioning). My old one worked fine - when it worked. I suspect the new one would have done the same but I don't have the patience or the hauling capability to keep running a machine to the repair shop. Consequently, I have to give this machine a failing grade (it gets one star rather than a flat zero because it did start on the 3rd pull).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Little Remover I purchased this model last year when my other snow thrower engine froze up the day before a major snow storm. I have found it to be a good snow remover, engine starts easy (cold or hot), clears the snow (wet and heavy or light and fluffy). I only have one issue--the airless tires!! Thought they would be great look like mudder tires and figured they get a good bite and dig through the snow. Oops, wrong!! Most snow they are okay with and do the job but get hard pack snow or ice then they are worthless no gripping power, they just spin like driving a car on ice no traction. Looking to change them out for a set of regular snow thrower tires.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. I bought this a year ago and it never snowed deep enough to use it until last night. We had a 5 inch wet snow and it easily handled it. I have a sloped driveway and it easily climbed it.
