Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small issue I love the way the tiller works, it does wonders in my clay loam. The only issue I have had so far was bad weld penetration on a handle adjustment plate weld. I am sure that Troy-Bilt will take care of the issue, but it is something that detracted from my overall satisfaction rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best tiller ever I bought another Pony last fall because the one I bought in 1990 kind of found it's way to my son's house and he refused to let me "borrow" my 28 year old tiller. Ergo, I just bought a new one. The only thing we have ever had to do with my old one was to put new gaskets in the drive train. With regular maintenance, it has been a great machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pony Tiller I currently am using the 2nd Pony tiller I have ever owned, and I can't begin to estimate the age ~ @ least 15 yrs. I have never had a problem w/it, and would never own a brand other than Troy-Bilt. I love the electric-start b/c, @ my age (a-HEM!!) I am able to start it myself, any time that I choose, w/o ensuring that my husband is present and available. We recently purchased a Troy-bilt edger and leaf blower b/c we were so impressed w/the quality of the tiller, and I have to say that I am sold on Troy-Bilt, and promote your company every chance I get. Tx for all you do to make gardening easier!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Electric start 250cc rear tine tiller Was not too hard to handle after I figured out what I had to do differently compared to the larger rented tillers I used in the past. Location of Engage/Disengage lever is not handy. Some sort of extended handle that ends up somewhere in the driving handle area would be very helpful. Also, the informational sticker for the Engage/Disengage lever is backwards from operation. I haven't looked closely enough to figure out if the decal was installed upside down, or if it's just wrong. Easy enough to pull start that I didn't use the electric start. Comes with a nice, heavy-duty 120VAC 6 foot extension cord for starting. Shipping container arrived badly damaged, the straps were the only thing keeping the machine inside the box. Bottom wood supports were broken and the top of the box was not (or no longer) secured to the main box. Amazingly, the tiller was not damaged by it's rough transport.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I have use this tiller for 10 years. It is electric start and so easy to use. Works the ground up like a seed bed. I use it for my vegetable garden. I recommend this tiller for home gardeners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great general tiller OK, I am a city girl converted to a country girl who LOVES gardening- and got this model last season. I love the electric start and find it easy to control and adjust speed. We live in the Ozarks and deal with a LOT of rocks and it even handles well with that. We have a 7,000 square foot garden and generally only use to get soil ready and about every 8 weeks to weed walkways and aerate the soil- perfect size and power for that. Would recommend to anyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tiller LOVE the electric start! I'm not a mechanic and I really don't want to have to fool around with trying to get a machine started every time I want to use it. It was well-worth the extra money. The biggest mistake I made: putting the choke on "rabbit." I found out that if I am tilling sod that the tiller will take off with my arms attached! I read the manual which was a scant few pages. I wish it had more information, tips, and detail about ways to use it. It may have been written by an engineer because some detail was there, but it wasn't explicit enough for someone who doesn't understand machines in general and tillers specifically. With experience, I figured it out, but wished the company would have saved me the trouble. Once I learned that adjusting the choke to a lower setting when I was cutting sod would slow this powerful machine down enough to handle it, I came to LOVE this tiller. I can operate it with one hand like it shows in the picture. It takes time to cut through sod. My ground is basically clay, so I need a powerful machine. I damaged the handlebars by manhandling it, but I got it repaired and I love it. Purchased in 2010.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a big one... I owned an Econo horse, and a Horse over the years. I bought this Pony ES mainly because I now have a small garden and I liked the electric start now that i'm older. The tiller is ok, but checking the oil is a nightmare as is checking the gear oil. The reverse is terrible and it barely works. I have to break up the old garden plants and throw them away because this thing doesn't have enough power to till them under. I may have been spoiled with a Econo Horse and a horse.....this thing just doesn't meet up to my expectations.
