Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small issue I love the way the tiller works, it does wonders in my clay loam. The only issue I have had so far was bad weld penetration on a handle adjustment plate weld. I am sure that Troy-Bilt will take care of the issue, but it is something that detracted from my overall satisfaction rating.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The NEW Troy bilt pony tiller..... I bought my pony in 2019 and I regret ever doing it. It’s the worst tiller I’ve ever used. Set your depth to the shallowest depth and start tilling and it bucks and bounces out of your hands. There is no way to control it. I even used my neighbors 40 yr old Ariens tiller, tilled to a 6 inch depth and tried the pony, it still does the same thing even set at a shallow depth. The machine is way to light for the power that it has. A lot of these reviews are from people posting about ponies they bought back in the 70s-90s. The pony back then isn’t the pony being sold and made today, stop confusing people with posts about an old machine that isn’t the same.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not like the old Troybilts It's not a bad tiller my only complaint is a 5hp engine is too powerful for the size and weight of this tiller it will jump terribly if it hits even a small rock or debri. I'm sorry I didn't buy the horse instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best tiller ever I bought another Pony last fall because the one I bought in 1990 kind of found it's way to my son's house and he refused to let me "borrow" my 28 year old tiller. Ergo, I just bought a new one. The only thing we have ever had to do with my old one was to put new gaskets in the drive train. With regular maintenance, it has been a great machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pony Tiller I currently am using the 2nd Pony tiller I have ever owned, and I can't begin to estimate the age ~ @ least 15 yrs. I have never had a problem w/it, and would never own a brand other than Troy-Bilt. I love the electric-start b/c, @ my age (a-HEM!!) I am able to start it myself, any time that I choose, w/o ensuring that my husband is present and available. We recently purchased a Troy-bilt edger and leaf blower b/c we were so impressed w/the quality of the tiller, and I have to say that I am sold on Troy-Bilt, and promote your company every chance I get. Tx for all you do to make gardening easier!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Electric start 250cc rear tine tiller Was not too hard to handle after I figured out what I had to do differently compared to the larger rented tillers I used in the past. Location of Engage/Disengage lever is not handy. Some sort of extended handle that ends up somewhere in the driving handle area would be very helpful. Also, the informational sticker for the Engage/Disengage lever is backwards from operation. I haven't looked closely enough to figure out if the decal was installed upside down, or if it's just wrong. Easy enough to pull start that I didn't use the electric start. Comes with a nice, heavy-duty 120VAC 6 foot extension cord for starting. Shipping container arrived badly damaged, the straps were the only thing keeping the machine inside the box. Bottom wood supports were broken and the top of the box was not (or no longer) secured to the main box. Amazingly, the tiller was not damaged by it's rough transport.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too big Pony I just purchased a Pony ES to replace my old Pony that I used and loved for about 35 years ( the rod came thru the side of the engine) Sorry to say I like my old tiller much better. The new one is much bigger, much heavier, and much harder to maneuver in small places. It takes a lot to turn at the end of the row. I am almost 60 years old and am wondering if I will be able to handle this tiller in a few years. Sure wish my old Pony could have lasted a few more years.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Please check over! I purchased my Pony ES Tiller brand new on May 17, 2011. I picked it up and brought it home and started to till my garden. It ran about 1 minute and the drive belt came off. I took the cover off and reattached it and drive belt came off again and torn into shreads. I immediately loaded it and took back to the dealer. It was discovered that the tension pulley that held the drive belt in place was not in line with the drive belt. I was disappointed about this, but the dealer took care of the issue for me. This was a factory assembly error. Since this was corrected I now am happy with my tiller.
