Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worked fine for a while Purchased this mower in the Spring of 2019. It worked fine for a couple of months, then it would start up fine, but after about 10 minutes of mowing it would die and then not start. Took it to authorized service center (Milbradt Eqpmt, St. Louis MO) They had it almost 3 weeks and when I got it back I had the same problem. I took it back to them 10 days ago, and have not heard anything yet. I am guessing this will be a simple fix covered under warranty, but until I receive the mower and use it for more than a season, I would be reluctant to recommend it. Mine is model number 1A-B2BM766

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Engine Burns Oil I bought this mower at the end of the summer in 2018, but didn't use it until spring 2019. The first several mows were fine and everything worked as it should. Then one day I noticed a loud rattling sound coming from the engine, so I shut it off and took the mower in the garage to investigate. It turns out that every drop of oil was burned up and I threw the rod bearing which trashed the motor. After four months of use I now need another mower.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Gold Standard of how NOT to build a mower Bought this mower last season and already have it up for sale, something which I'm not too proud of. The last thing I want to do is inflict a Troy on another person, but I need to recoup my money somehow. This mower sets the bar of poor design, cheap manufacturing, and short lifespan. In less than a year I've had to disassemble this hunk of junk to clean the carbs just to keep the mower running through a single mow mession. My yard is about the size of a side of mashed poatoes but this mower struggles mightily to complete a single pass without dying, getting clogged up (even in the dryest of grass), or just failing because that's what it's used to. At this point I would trust a herd of goats to mow my grass before anything Troy made.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Brand New Mower won't start! I just purchased this mower and received it last Friday.. I took it out of the box, set it up, put the oil in and filled it with regular/premium gas.. I read the instructions - primed it 3 times and the fly wheel won't budge; then I saw that the gas, when I primed it, was running out of the bottom - through the sponge/cover.. I have had this almost exact mower for 15 years and it has been a great one - never had one problem with the engine - have had belts replaced and front drive wheels, which had no remaining tread. I was excited to use this brand new mower and am sad/angry that it would not start for me; I'm thinking that the gas is not getting where it is supposed to go when primed, as it is dripping out on the ground. I am so very disappointed - and am a 'seasoned senior' widow with no one to help me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not buying again! Very disappointed Bought this mower back in 2018 has been a great mower. Used only NON ETHANOL fuel and checked oil level before each cut. Was time to cut yard pulled out of the shed did normal checks topped off fuel and guess what wouldn't start. Spark plug was good but seemed very easy to pull. come to find out since its 6 months past manufactures warranty. piston ring broke. no previous indication of anything wrong. Very disappointed in the longevity of this mower. have had several others in the past and have been great. bought this one for the self propelled so gave troy bilt a try. Will never again

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly Engineered I purchased this mower at the beginning of the season, but I won't be finishing the season with it. The engine is good and starts every time. The grass catcher is poorly constructed, and the opening for the grass to exit is too small. It vibrates more and harder than any mower I've ever owned. This machine needs to go back to the drawing board.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaking Oil through the air filter Got this a a gift for X-mas about a year ago. Just notice oil leaking from/through the ail filter compartment. Has not been turn on its side or nothing to cause the oil to shift within the motor. Small yard, normally takes 15-20 minutes to cut yard including emptying the bag 3 times in between fills.
