Rated 2 out of 5 by from serious trouble at 3 years The machine is sturdy and, when it's working properly, does a pretty good job with both branches and leaves if you learn how to feed it (slowly#. I'd be fine with it, but at three years it has taken a dive mechanically. Virtually impossible to start. Needed a new head gasket and pull starter replacement #cost of repair was a third of the cost of a new one), and then it started burning oil seriously, with billowing white clouds of smoke. I kept adding oil every half an hour, hoping to get the mulching done over the weekend before it snows, but the machine stopped, and now I fear the worst. Three years of only moderate use just isn't enough. The engine is not up to the task.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Impossible to work on. The engineering staff at Troy-Bilt outdid themselves when they mounted the engine on the CS 4325 in such a way that it is IMPOSSIBLE to remove the oil check and fill plug without partially disassembling the unit which entails removing a guard and removing 4 bolts from the small chute and loosening another one to enable the user to pivot it to the side and out of the way. 1/2 inch is all that it would have required, 1/2 inch of a relocation to the right would have resolved the problem. Now I ask, it was impossible for me to ADD OIL to the engine prior to starting and I can assume that since this machine is mass produced and done so on an assembly line that therefore each unit produced was done in precisely the same way. How was it done, apparently QUALITY CONTROL was not a product that was achievable. And since this process is required for the INITIAL oil filling I would hasten to assume that it is required for all future oil fillings and even checking same which is recommended every few hours.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too Safe to be used New safety features make the unjamming impossible. Must disassemble machine to access chipper/shredder blades, unless you have real long arms. Oil refill or read level of oil in bad place.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hard Starting & Dangerious Unit was, from day one, hard to start. Long chute doesn't work well for my branches since they are all curved from snow loads. Large hopper jams constantly. Somehow a branch with a 3" hard knot destroyed the unit sending one of the small cutters out the bottom of the unit. No shear pin on the motor to impeller so nothing to keep it from destroying the entire impeller assembly and housing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from STAY AWAY perfect fixer Bought at hardware store that is blue two years ago. Used it 1/2 hour that fall. Then 1 hour the following fall, would not start, clean carb. Tried to use leaf chute, jam. Put it up for winter. Spring 2020, cleared jam taking entire leaf chute off. Wouldn't start. Clean carb still wouldn't start. Out of warranty. Replaced new carb, still would not start. Spent two months trying to figure out why to include having a service person come to look at it. He couldn't figure out. Finally took apart to find out issue. Serendipity, found one valve stem (exhaust side) rusted in place. Mufler attachment hole is above it and horizontally oriented allowing water to collec and leak to valve stem. Cleaned valve stem, worked for a few hours, then jam again. Cleared jam by taking leaf chute off. Left for few days since 4th of July. Use it again today 6 Jul 2020. Jam immediately. Took entire leaf chute out again. Ran for about 1 minute jam again. Took the entire leaf chute out again. Ran 1/2 hour, jam again. Don't typically give bad reviews but we shall see how honest Troybilt. Used it in four incidents and I had to either service it or take it apart many many more times. Just today, got 1/2 hour of use but in the morning spent 3 hours trying to figure out why the jam. Then another 2 hours to take it apart in the afternoon. What a horrible machine. This is the perfect machine if you like taking things apart and keep fixing it. First Troybilt, will never buy again. Doing public service as you will spend much much more time fixing and un-jamming this than using it. This is just the time spending fixing it. There's other issues like having to take the entire leaf chute off just to remove a jam ... to name one poorly designed machine. More than glad to proof with receipt from hardware store that is blue and brand new (extra) carb from the orange hardware store.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unusable The Chipper started on the first pull but it didn't sound right so I shut it off and have been unable to start it again. It has been in the shop for warranty repair or a couple of weeks. I have yet to even use it yet.
