Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value - Some nits Purchased CS4325 as a floor item. 250cc high torque motor does not get bogged down if you're working with materials within the spec. I found the unit to be easily movable. After prepping motor - started with 1 pull. Have noticed when warm, after running a while doesn't start so easily - smell of gas indicates it floods and you must wait for it to clear. Its a bear to pull, and would be nice if there was an electric starter accessory - I'd invest in that. Chips up to 3" diameter wood. Gave it a workout. Only chipper negative is it really doesn't self feed. Needed to use a pusher stick routinely to get branches through the unit. But chews up 3" or smaller diameter wood - just have to push it through with another stick. Shredder hopper well designed. Leaves get sucked into the device and come out mulch. Oversized bag is great - when full of chips, pretty heavy, would be great if it had a strap to grab onto when trying to empty. But the large size is the right idea. It appears there are holes in the deck to support a tow bar, but one isn't offered. BUT with the pneumatic wheels, I'm able to roll it up and down the gentle hills on my property. Would like to see a Tow Bar as an accessory for longer hauls. Great value. Downgraded Performance and Ease of Use because the chipper really doesn't feed. Must push the wood through. Hopper feed great - sucks the leave through. Also, the oil fill holes are hard to access, you must have a skinny long funnel neck to fill. Downgraded Starting because of the observed flooding issue when restarting after its warm. #Maybe other units don't have that issue#.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from serious trouble at 3 years The machine is sturdy and, when it's working properly, does a pretty good job with both branches and leaves if you learn how to feed it (slowly#. I'd be fine with it, but at three years it has taken a dive mechanically. Virtually impossible to start. Needed a new head gasket and pull starter replacement #cost of repair was a third of the cost of a new one), and then it started burning oil seriously, with billowing white clouds of smoke. I kept adding oil every half an hour, hoping to get the mulching done over the weekend before it snows, but the machine stopped, and now I fear the worst. Three years of only moderate use just isn't enough. The engine is not up to the task.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Didn't come with oil filler extension This is 2nd Troybilt chipper-shredder I've had. Too many rocks destroyed flails, then ultimately the engine. Made great dirt out of partially composted live oak leaves (however, as manual warns, is prone to clogging when shredding damp material). Was disappointed when unpacked latest chipper-shredder as when I went to fill the oil, noticed that the oil filler extender as shown in the documentation (and on the Lowes web site where I ordered from) wasn't present. Managed to call the Briggs & Stratton help line and get them to send me an oil filler extender that I installed myself (not easy). This is something a customer should never have to do (Troybilt should have quality control on their production line to make sure the engine they install on their equipment has all the appropriate options installed prior to customer ship). Other than the disappointment stated above, the chipper-shredder performs as expected -- am being more vigilant about not attempting to shred rocks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT CHIPPER SHREDDER I BOUGHT MY FIRST TROY BILT CHIPPER OVER 16 YRS. AGO AND NOW NEED A LARGER UNIT SO LOOKED AT THIS MACHINE AND ANOTHER TOP BRAND, I WENT WITH TROY-BILT. I BOUGHT THE LARGER 3 INCH UNIT WITH A 250 CC ENGINE,IT FIRED UP ON THE SECOND PULL, IT NEVER BOGGED DOWN ONCE IF YOU FOLLOW THE OWNERS MANUAL YOU WILL HAVE NO PROBLEMS, I BOUGHT A ALLIGATOR LOPPER TO CUT THE CROOKED PIECES OUT AND THIS WILL CUT DOWN YOUR TIME QUITE A BIT. THIS MACHINE IS BUILT JUST AS GOOD AND SAME FEATURES AS THE MORE EXPENSIVE UNIT I WAS CONSIDERING. THE COLLECTION BAG IS HEAVY WHEN FULL BUT IS NICE AS THE MULCH DOES NOT GO ALL OVER THE GROUND. THE LARGER ENGINE PULLS THE BRANCHES IN VERY FAST AS IT HAS LOTS OF TORQUE, OVERALL I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS CHIPPER SHREDDER.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Impossible to work on. The engineering staff at Troy-Bilt outdid themselves when they mounted the engine on the CS 4325 in such a way that it is IMPOSSIBLE to remove the oil check and fill plug without partially disassembling the unit which entails removing a guard and removing 4 bolts from the small chute and loosening another one to enable the user to pivot it to the side and out of the way. 1/2 inch is all that it would have required, 1/2 inch of a relocation to the right would have resolved the problem. Now I ask, it was impossible for me to ADD OIL to the engine prior to starting and I can assume that since this machine is mass produced and done so on an assembly line that therefore each unit produced was done in precisely the same way. How was it done, apparently QUALITY CONTROL was not a product that was achievable. And since this process is required for the INITIAL oil filling I would hasten to assume that it is required for all future oil fillings and even checking same which is recommended every few hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best chipper, shredder. My father inlaw bought one 23 years ago, although a little different, It still looks like it. We used it year after year, and he still has it. It show's Troy bilt product's last the test of time. And our abuse. This is definently a great product. The only problem that we had is you have to tighten some of the shoot bolt's everytime you use it. Other wise it is easy to start, run, and handle even if just one person.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Troy bilt cipper/shredder Great for the homeowner, handles small limbs easily. Starts easy but after it has been running awhile it can be a little had to restart. Did jam a couple of times. Portable to easily move around the yard and compact to use very little storage space. I would recommend it to a homeowner to get rid of small tree branches easily.
