Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mower!!! I bought this mower very early in the spring. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE THIS MOWER!!! I am a 70 year old female and this is the first time I have had to do my yard (by choice). This mower starts the first pull every time. Very easy to handle. Love the self-propelled. I would absolutely buy this mower again if needed (but don't think I will ever need to do that).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worked great for 4 years I bought my Troybilt self-propelled mower with a Briggs and Stratton engine in 2014. It started on first try each of the 10 times that I used it. I used it seldom because I live in a Northern area with a short growing season and my grass is sparse. Last year, I used it only once and used up the gas. This year,I added oil (the oil was changed last year, and it was only used one time), fresh gas, cleaned the air filter, and used a new spark plug. It will not start! My brother has a Troybilt push mower with a Briggs and Stratton engine. His worked only two years, and he finally bought a new mower. My expectation is that a lawn mower that is well-maintained should work more than two or four years. Any chance that I can get advice on how to get my mower to start?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good one year mow Bought now last year. it worked great for that 1st year. when I put it up for the winner I drained it all out cleaned it all up and put it away. so when I got the mow out and gassed it up it ran great great the 1st couple of times. after that it only ran for 10' then starts spitting black smoke out and dies. then I have to wait a couple days and then does the same thing. I'm fed up with it I threw my shoulder out trying to start the thing. easy start terrible that's all I have to say will not buy again

Rated 1 out of 5 by from TB240 Review Mower isnt even a year old yet and the self propel stopped working. The manual doesn’t address it in troubleshooting section. Single mom on a budget who thought this was a good mower now is out of luck with a mower!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Used 5 times. Control Cable Broke and Won't Start. Bought This year (2018). Stored inside. The metal part of the control cable broke. Even when I pull the cable tight the mower won't start. I need to take it apart to fix it. I used this mower about 5 times.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Mower But! Shortly after I was gifted (but I actually selected and bought) this mower by my family, it started to act up with a problem. Mower would sound like it was running out of gas (rough idle) but never stall and always started on the 1st pull. Problem would start after about a minute of operation. Being mechanically inclined and a renown "fixer", I started to troubleshoot what I thought was an otherwise, outstanding mower. I concluded the problem was related to the fancy choking system in this Honda engine. I replaced the spark plug, tried fuel additives, and checked connections, no luck. I called Troy-bilt, no help at all but they did point me to a Honda engine expert providing warranty service out of Bangor, PA., who was retiring the exact afternoon I called. After listening to my story, he pointed me to a product called, "Mechanic in a Bottle", B4 he closed his shop forever. Concurrently, I started using racing fuel sold at a Sunoco station near me which has no ethanol (and God knows what else that makes gas engines run right.) Problem solved. I haven't used the "Mechanic in a Bottle" except initially and I'm now into my third 1.5 gallon container of gas without any further problems. About two weeks ago, I heard a mower in the neighborhood with the same sound that my mower had, when it had the problem. Turned out to be a Honda gas engine mower. My neighbor related what was going on, where he bought it, etc, and sure enough, he was able to use my fix without the preliminary calls and troubleshooting. Needless to say, I love this mower and would award it my highest possible rating except for the fact that Troy-bilt technical support was clueless and absolutely not helpful (except for directing me to the retiring expert). This beauty cut through Zoysia almost a foot tall (excessive rain, this year in our area) without any sign of stalling out. It always starts on the first pull. Lowe's carries this mower and it is an excellent buy and performer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not happy I did alot of research including before I came to the decision of this purchase. This lawnmower had a lot of good reviews. I was not as happy as I thought I would be with my choice. The side discharge is a pain the slightest bump against anything and it falls off. It should have a true latch to keep it in place. I've cut the grass with the bag on when it was not high nor wet and it does not fill the bag up. It builds up in the blade and stalls. Major purpose of this purchase was for the bagging of the grass. The lawnmower is not cheap so I expected for it to meet my expectations.
