Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hedge Trimming Purchased this product to replace a hand held hedge trimmer. I got tired of holding this item above my head to cut the top of my hedges. I bought a Troy built 4 cycle trimmer with the hedge attachment. This product cut my trimming time in half. It did an outstanding job with no problems. Plenty of power and with an adjustable blade performed well. I have 600 plus feet of hedges to maintain. It got a little heavy but would recommend this to anyone with a lot of trimming.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It Broke Fantastic design and easy to use when it works. Must have plastic or nylon gears in it because it just quit working when doing light trimming. Very disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better then expected! I purchased the AH721 to go with my TB685EC and TB2004XP. For the last decade, I have been using 2 electric hedge trimmers, one of which was mounted to an old golf club shaft so I could reach the bag of my hedges. I also had to use a ladder to trim most of my hedges. To start, I would highly recommend that when you take this out of the box you use some sort of lubricant on the blades right away. Then take a large blade screw driver, insert it in the shaft and gently turn the shaft so the blades move just a bit. I did not do this and when I tried to start the trimmer up, the blades did not move. I guess when these sit on the store shelves long enough, they bind up. So I just took it back apart and did what I recommended above. When I hooked it back up and started it, off she went. The AH721 itself is quite heavy; that in itself takes a little bit to get used to. But let me tell you, what used to take me 3 to 4 hours to trim, took just about 1 hour; and that was even switching engines to do a comparison!! The pivoting head is a wondrous concept and really cut down on the time! The shear fact that I did not have to worry about cutting a cord was also huge. But the big thing for me was the reach!! No longer do I need to use a ladder to trim any of my hedges!! Now grant it, the unit as a whole is heavy, and you don't want to be holding this at shoulder level for longer then15 to 20 minutes, but the shear ability to just need one tool to do a job instead of 4, clearly outweighs the weight! The AH721 performed extremely well with both the TB685EC and the TB2044XP. I must warn you though, the AH721 gets very hot!! When I went to switch heads, I needed to use gloves to hold onto the AH721. This raises a concern. Since there is no mention of lubricating the gearing in the instruction manual, I wonder what kind of lubricant is in there; if any? There must be some though, for it is very quiet. You don't hear any grinding. And I can't believe that the gearing is plastic or nylon, for in my opinion, with that kind of heat, they would have melted! Other then that issue, I am extremely pleased with the AH721 and would highly recommend it to anyone who has a Troy-Bilt trimmer that accepts attachments and who has hedges to trim. I did not give the AH721 an EXCELLENT rating for durability for I don't think it would be fair to do so after one use. Only time will tell, but it does seem to be made very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with my TB trimmer. I have some very tall bushes that need to be trimmed. This trimmer does a great job and allows me to reach all the way to the top. It works great with my TB trimmer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great time saver! I was very pleased with the amount of time my hedge trimmer saved me. I think being able to rotate the head to different trimming positions and of course how well the trimmer cuts through the hedges, shrubs, etc. is the key to saving a great amount of time and frustration with other tools and methods I've used in the past. I lubricated the blades and manually rotated the drive attachment before starting the hedge trimmer, I think this is important as mentioned in other reviews! The trimmer is a little heavy and takes some time to get use to but once you do it makes quick work of any job. My next job planned is to try it on some tall stripped grass we have around our pool. I'm hoping the hedge trimmer will do well with this softer bladed grass like it does with the hedges.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Excellent, until it broke. Having the ability to attach this to my regular weedeater is wonderful. It worked great for the majority of the first season. Unfortunately, it broke the first fall. Took it apart to find that the gears had torn up. I would consider something different next time. My other attachments have worked well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hedge trimmer for all seasons I like the way I can change the angle of the trimmer to get to the hard to reach areas in my garden.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good. I've used the hedge trimmer attachment a few times since I purchased it. One or more previous reviewers have mentioned lubricating this trimmer before first use, which is also in the instructions. I did, and have done so regularly since, with no issues to date. It definitely throws off the balance of the trimmer due to its weight, but it performs well for me when trimming my boxwood hedges. Here's hoping it lasts.
