TB30 R Hydro Neighborhood Rider

30" Riding Mower - 10.5 HP Briggs & Stratton Engine with Hydrostatic Transmission

Model No. 13AC21JD011

The TB30 R hydro rider lawn mower's smaller frame, 30" cutting deck and 18" turning radius, couples the benefits of a standard riding lawn mower with the size of a wide cut walk-behind. The TB30 R also features a comfortable medium-back seat, LED headlight and telescoping steering wheel. Hydrostatic transmission provides less maintenance, allows smooth acceleration and requires no shifting to change either direction or speed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cuts good. Steering is terrible. The cut is good but the steering is terrible especially when turning the steering wheel max deflection left or right the steering wheel sticks and must be forcefully moved this is probably aggravated by the steering mechanism connected together with cotter pins. Plus if the cotter pin connections are not lubricated prior to use there is a squeak when ever the steering wheel is turned. To adjust the seat fore/aft you must loosen two star shaped bolts, had to use vice grips. Position #5 deck height is extremely hard to select. Big (Brother) Troy doesn't want you to cut in reverse so you must perform a series of steps to override this, turn the ignition key to a certain position, push a button and when a red warning light comes on you can then cut in reverse. This might make the Snowflakes feel good but it is an insult to those of us who have enough common sense not to run over kids/dogs/ rabbits. I normally turn on this override "feature" when I start cutting and leave it on until I finish. But the CUT IS GOOD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mower I had had this mower for 6 months and really enjoy the Unit. Quick and even cutting and the turn radius is amazing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from hydrostatic drive Bought this about 2 months ago and absolutely love this little mower! The hydrostatic drive is my favorite feature! The not having to shift constantly is worth its weight in gold. It mows real nice too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hydro Clutch Makes It I bought this mower about 1 month ago and have used it 4 times to mow. One word: AWESOME! It runs smoothly and leaves my lawn looking better than it ever has. The hydrostatic clutch is a must. I went backhand forth on whether to spend the extra money. It was well worth it and makes mowing that much easier and quicker. The mower is solid and is just what I needed. It's big enough to cut my mowing time down, yet small enough to get into tight spots. I highly recommend this lawnmower.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from hydro transmission I initially bought the standard transmission model and returned it for the hydro because of the need to back up without stopping the mower blade. The only problem I have is that the mower deck does NOT stay even with the ground; it does not have wheels on the mower deck. As a result and because of the approximately 6 foot between front and rear wheels, the grass is not cut evenly. My yard is very bumpy and it does not do a good job of mowing this type of ground. Otherwise, can't ask for anything more

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hydrostat is the way to go! In general, the machine is ideal for my 1/2 acre yard. I have several trees to work around as well as two structures. The hydrostatic drive, due to the variable speed, allows me to mow close and in complete control. The ability to mow in reverse is a bonus. I still have to pre cut some of the edges with my push mower but that was expected. The machine feels tight and well designed and even though it has no suspension the ride is fine with the tire pressure set at specification. This newest version (2018) marketed by Northern Tool (model# 13A721JD066) is equipped with a 382cc engine with full pressure lubrication and a replaceable, spin on, oil filter. Also the engine has a balance shaft and a steel cylinder bore for long life. These features are important to me as a semi retired auto mechanic.....this is a very, automotive design. I will be adding the bagging kit this fall for picking up the tons of leaves I deal with.....currently it is being operated as a mulcher and it really does a nice job of cutting and re-cutting the grass blades.....so much so, they are hard to find. In summation, it is exceeding my expectations, especially for a single blade deck. For whatever it is worth, it kind of makes mowing fun. Thanks for asking my opinion.
