Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Mower and Good on Hills This mower is very stable on hills which is one of the main reasons I bought this type of mower. I prefer to go up and down hills rather than across, and I feel very safe especially going down hills. The zero turn abilities of this mower is very good and makes mowing easy and fast. I like that you can mow in reverse after moving the switch key position and pushing the mow in reverse button. The beverage holder is very nice on hot days. Some minor issues are: there is not a sliding adjustment for the seat. The seat adjusts but you have to loosen two rear bolts and two front knobs under the seat to move the seat forward or backward in increments. There is no rear bumper tow hitch point but I did buy one as an add on. This allows me to connect the wagon when needed. The two transmission bypass levers at the rear of the engine are not heavy duty enough. I feel they could break over time if I use them very much to move the mower around in the garage without the engine running. I have to get off the mower to read the fuel level from time to time. I did have to lower the tire pressure in all four tires to the pressure shown on the sidewalls. Overall this is a nice mower and I am very glad I made this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mustang Pivot 54 Zero This is my second Troy-Bilt zero turn my first being a 46" that I gave to my nephew when he bought my house. I like the steering wheel leaves my other hand free for a drink. This mower also moves at a decent speed, cutting down my mow time. I cut an acre and a half of all grass. I like the low profile makes it very stable on hills. If I ever do need another mower which I doubt, it will be a Troy-Bilt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good mower but takes TLC I really like it but do have a few gripes about things. First, man is it a stiff ride, you feel every bump. The deck loves to keep grass in it. probably my own fault cause I put a mulching cap on it. Planning to go back to stock discharge with that. Even with that the lip around the outside is great to hold grass and needs to be cleared after every mowing. Very important to keep the bottom of the deck clean. It did cut my mowing time in half as I have a lot of trees and ditches to do. The low center of gravity and wide stance lets me mow with the ditch instead of across them saving a lot of back and forth time. Yup blades are tough to remove, but not impossible, helps to drop the deck off when working on it. Plus that is fairly easy to do on this model. I even found putting the belt back on was simple.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy to use With four wheel steering I am able to mow my back yard with a hill, It is so easy to use my ten year old grandson likes to mow my front yard.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible- This mower is absolutely horrible. Just standard mowing of a 3 acre turf-grass lot. My mower is two years old. The drive belt slips off regularly (probably 20 times at this point). Accessing the belt is a hassle. I have also had tire slippage issues... every time I go to mow I hold my breath as I wait to see what will go wrong next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Lawn Tractor so far Best mower yet! I live on 1.5 acres with moderate hill and ditch that have kept me away from rear-drive zero-turn models. My last mower was 54" front-engine tractor with 7.5mph top speed and 8" turn radius but grass dispersal left rows of "hay" and being front heavy has caused need for recurrent front-end repairs. Consumer Report analysis of zero-turn with actual front-wheel steering got me looking at TroyBilt. I've only put 8 hours on it, but the steering is amazing and I look forward to mowing. The 5-hour oil-change was a breeze due to the rubber drain spout. The oil-filter was overtightened, but next time will also be an easy exchange (just place a thick rag under it to catch the spillage). I can mow 1.5 acres in an hour. The flat deck catches grass/dirt, so I rigged my shed with an extension cord and $20 mini-blower that makes clean-up simple before I park it. The low center of gravity and front-wheel control make mowing on the hill feel totally safe and with less force on the front wheels when turning corners downhill. it is just a tad slower than my prior mower, but that may make it safer and stress the front end less. I expect much less maintenance problem with this mower. Definitely recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid machine I have purchased this 54 inch deck rider last year. The machine is big and strong. I cut my 2.5 acres in an hour and half. I also bought a towing hitch and dump cart for it as well. I love it. The dump cart makes my mulching job easy. I changed the first break engine oil with ease. I don't know why other people have problem with the oil drain pipe. You need 2 wrenches one to hold the base of the pipe and one to drive the nut at the end of the pipe and that's it! Cannot be any easier! No jack lifting needed. This is the reasonable price for a big mower.
