When Steve Asbell's terminally ill mother started to lose her ability to see and walk as a result of Lupus, he planted a garden in her Florida backyard and started a blog called The Rainforest Garden to share his uplifting experience - as well as his mother's extraordinary joy and gratitude. Now that she has passed away, he continues to garden for others and tends to the lush gardens that he planted for his apartment community. His blog remains a respected source of inspiration for creative gardening DIY projects, and he now makes his living as a freelance writer, blogger, illustrator and photographer. Steve will be releasing his first book in early 2014.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Amy Andrychowicz gets her green thumb from her parents, and has been gardening most of her life. Though she is a software developer by day, her true passions are plants and gardening. When Amy bought her first home in 2002, she couldn't wait to transform the boring suburban yard into a garden oasis. Over the years, and with the help of her husband, she has added several flower gardens, a large vegetable garden, two ponds, a rain garden and many unique hardscape features. During the long winter months Amy gardens indoors, tending to her large collection of houseplants, succulents and tropical plants. Amy writes about her gardening experiences on her blog Get Busy Gardening, which she started in 2009. She is also the author of a gardening column in a local newspaper and does freelance writing for local gardening publications.

Dave Townsend created the blog Growing the Home Garden in 2007 to document the transformation of his blank slate of a yard into a home garden. On his blog, the master gardener covers vegetables, plant propagation, and an assortment of gardening projects. All gardening subjects are fair game! Dave gardens on a little over an acre of land in Spring Hill, Tennessee, where he founded an heirloom vegetable garden business, and is a stay-at-home father of three who enjoys making more work for himself in the garden.

Noelle Johnson is a horticulturist and certified arborist who lives and gardens in the desert southwest. Growing up in Southern California, it wasn't until she married and moved to Arizona that she began to try her hand at gardening. She received her degree in Urban Horticulture and went to work managing landscapes for golf courses and later working as a landscape designer. Noelle now helps people create the garden of their dreams through helpful advice, focusing on using beautiful, low-maintenance plants. Freelance writing and speaking to groups about gardening keep her busy as well. When she is not writing or helping other people with their gardens, you can find her "playing" outside - growing fruits, vegetables, and planting flowering shrubs and maybe a cactus or two.

Matt Mattus lives and gardens in central Massachusetts, about an hour west of Boston, smack in the middle of the state (and the snow belt). An app designer by day, Matt's real love is gardening. He lives in the house his grandfather built and gardens the land that has been in his family for about 100 years - so every plant, tree, rock and structure has a history. The great part about living in a place with such a soul is that he knows who planted every tree, every shrub and placed every stone (and when), which is weird since most are over 90 years old. His blog, Growing with Plants, continues to be an outlet where he can document his daily adventures in the garden.
